What are the responsibilities and job description for the Exercise Science Program Director, Full-Time position at Spring Hill College and Careers?
Essential Functions:
- Represent the exercise science discipline in meetings across the division and College, including the registrar’s office, admissions, public relations and marketing, and in communication with other academic programs
- Plan course schedules and instructor course assignments
- Hire and mentor adjunct instructors as needed
- Manage program curricular and equipment needs including overseeing the program budget
- Program assessment
- Teach courses within the undergraduate Exercise Science major
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
o Understanding of the subdisciplines of Exercise Science (kinesiology, exercise
physiology, motor behavior, psychology of sport and exercise, etc.).
o Knowledge of the space and equipment needs for an Exercise Science program.
o Awareness of career paths for Exercise Science majors and familiarity of expectations
required of students to enter these fields and/or their associated graduate programs.
o Familiarity with relatively new accreditation procedures required for specific American
College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and/or National Strength and Conditioning
Association (NSCA) certifications.
o Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
o Effective project management skills; detail and deadline oriented.
o Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written means.
o Commitment to teaching and mentoring students interested in Exercise Science.
o Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals.
o Interest in collaborating with colleagues across disciplines.
- Completed Ph.D. in an Exercise Science related field
- Professional engagement in the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and/or National
- 2-5 years of faculty experience
