Church Maintenance Job Description
Position Description: The maintenance employee at Spring City Methodist Church (“SCM”) serves in a way that is consistent with SCM’s mission, values and theology. The position will require up to twenty hours per week at an agreed upon hourly rate. The position is under the direct supervision of the SCM Senior Pastor and the general supervision of the Leadership Team.
Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated skill in carpentry work, plumbing, and electrical.
2. Must have the basic tools in carpentry, electricity, and plumbing.
3. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb high ladders. Must be safety cautious at all times.
4. Ability to collaborate and coordinate with church volunteers on special maintenance projects.
5. Must be self-insured
6. Ability to work some day-time hours
Responsibilities:
1. Inspect lighting system for proper operation, replace light bulbs and light fixtures as needed.
2. Check all exit signs and emergency lights for proper operation. Exit lights should always be lit 24 hours a day.
3. Check all bathroom plumbing systems for proper operation. Repair/replace as needed.
4. Check all kitchen plumbing systems fixtures, and equipment. Maintain and repair as needed.
5. Check the heating system. Make sure grills and filters are clean.
6. Check church building structure for any defects and repair immediately if minor work is needed. Otherwise, promptly report any issue to the Board of Trustees.
7. Oversee cleaning of exterior windows and specialty cleaning of stained glass as needed.
8. Communicate with repair companies with oversight of Trustees.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
