Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses and other authorized vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Transport students to designated locations, ensuring punctuality and safety at all times.
- Communicate clearly with students, parents, school staff, and colleagues to coordinate routes and address any concerns.
- Manage student behavior on the bus using positive behavior management techniques to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including mechanical checks, to ensure optimal operation and safety standards are met.
- Assist students with special needs or those requiring childcare support, including Paratransit services if applicable.
- Maintain accurate logs of routes, student counts, incidents, and vehicle maintenance reports.
Experience
- Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a valid driver’s license suitable for operating large vehicles such as school buses or Paratransit vehicles.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging with diverse communities.
- Knowledge of driving safety protocols, mechanical basics of vehicle maintenance, and behavior management strategies.
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with customer service principles to interact positively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively while maintaining safety standards.
- Prior experience in teaching or working in senior care can be beneficial for understanding diverse needs of passengers. Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
