AI Analyst

Role Overview

Hartree Partners is seeking an AI Enablement Analyst to support the delivery of AI-powered analytics, reporting, and workflow automation across Front, Middle and Back Office operations

This role sits at the intersection of:

• Front, Middle and Back Office Operations
• Natural Gas and Refined Products workflows (ETRM environments)
• AI-enabled automation and analytics

You will work closely with Operations teams to translate established reporting and workflow requirements into AI-enabled processes, improving efficiency, transparency, and decision-making.

The role requires strong understanding of commodities workflows and financial reporting, along with a willingness to work across regions, including regular engagement with Portsmouth and New York based teams.

What You’ll Do

• Support delivery of AI-enabled solutions for:
• Front, Middle and Back Office operations
• Translate recurring reporting requirements into structured AI workflows and automation
• Improve speed and consistency of management and regulatory reporting

AI Workflow Design & Implementation

• Design and refine AI-enabled workflows for:
• Data ingestion and validation
• Reporting and analytics generation
• Exception handling and reconciliation
• Build and maintain:
• Prompt libraries
• Reusable workflows
• Standardized agent patterns
• Ensure outputs are accurate, auditable, and aligned with finance controls

Process Automation & Efficiency

• Identify manual, spreadsheet-driven, and email-based processes and automate them
• Reduce operational risk and improve transparency across:
• Credit workflows
• Reporting cycles
• Data reconciliation processes

Cross-Regional Collaboration

• Work closely with Portsmouth and NY-based teams
• Travel as needed to support:
• Implementation
• Stakeholder alignment
• Training and adoption
• Ensure consistency of solutions across regions

What Success Looks Like

• Front, Middle and Back Office Operations reporting processes are faster, more consistent, and less manual
• Operations workflows (including concentrates) are better structured and automated
• AI-enabled processes are trusted, auditable, and widely adopted
• Reduction in manual reconciliation and reporting effort

What you'll need

• Natural Gas and Refined Products operations
• Risk, settlements, accounting, or operational reporting
• Energy trading and supply operations environments
• ETRM systems (preferred)

• Physical product movement and operational workflows
• Scheduling, confirmations, inventory, and settlement processes
• Operational reporting, reconciliations, and data validation
• End-to-end trade lifecycle processes for Natural Gas and Refined Products

• Data analysis tools (Excel, SQL)
• Reporting, balancing, and reconciliation processes
• Cross-functional operational and commercial teams
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams

Preferred / Strongly Desired

• Exposure to CTRM/ETRM systems (e.g., Aspect, Allegro, Right Angle, or similar)
• Familiarity with AI/LLMs, prompt engineering, or workflow automation
• Experience improving or automating Front, Middle, Back Office workflows
• Python or scripting experience (helpful but not required)
