Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a School Librarian to join our growing school division! Serving in five interrelated roles (teacher, instructional partner, program administrator, leader, and information specialist), the School Librarian manages the library as a flexible, multi-tasked learning environment and designs a school library program, establishing goals that ensure efficient operation and optimal service for all stakeholders.

Essential Functions:
- Leads by modeling and teaching the skills necessary to access, evaluate, and use resources effectively and responsibly.
- Provides active learning experiences and opportunities to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Assesses student learning before, during, and after lessons; alters instruction to meet group/individual needs.
- Promotes reading in traditional and innovative ways such as social media, digital media and print.
- Develops initiatives to encourage and engage learners in reading, writing, and listening for understanding and enjoyment.
- Leads instruction in digital literacy and internet safety.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and other specialists to develop instructionally sound assignments that include key critical thinking, literacy and social skills, and instructional technology.

Education and Experience:
Required
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
- An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable.
Preferred
- Postgraduate Certification in School Librarianship from an accredited college or university
- Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s)
- Prior experience serving as a School Librarian within a public school system

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10.5-Month (210 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually.
