Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a student-focused, dedicated hourly Paraeducators to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support in self-contained classrooms with students who have special needs
(Autism, Developmental Delays, Multiple Disabilities, Learning Support and Behavior Support) whose educational needs are not met by a general education environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments
- Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and healthy atmosphere, which may include assisting students with social skill development, personal hygiene, toiletry needs/toilet training
- Follows established procedures for monitoring and redirecting student behavior when supervising small groups
- Maintains and organizes students instructional materials and/or cumulative files
- Administer and/or assist with preparing for various assessments for students as necessary
- Uses special skills (i.e. sign language, transliterating, advanced computer training) to assist in two-way communication between the teacher and the student as necessary
- Performs additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty

Education and Experience:
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or related setting
Special Requirements:
- Special education teachers assigned to work with students with emotional disabilities should have been trained in MANDT methodology and should receive additional training, as appropriate, annually.

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10-Month (185 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually. Additional compensation awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees.
