Job description-Occupational Therapist
Suggs Pediatric Outpatient Therapy Services (SPOTS)
Now hiring a Pediatric Occupational Therapist with a Texas license for a position in a family centered pediatric sensory integration based private practice. Responsibilities include evaluation, treatment, documentation, parent communication, schedule management as well as other duties requested as needed. SPOTS has been the premier provider of pediatric Occupational and Physical therapy for over 30 years in the Dallas market. SPOTS has a team of talented and passionate therapists who collaborate with each other to provide the absolute best treatment for our patients.
We stand out among outpatient practices with workloads supporting an excellent work-life balance. We provide reliable pay and 3 weeks of PTO. Your 40-hour work week is flexible as far as scheduling (4 days of 10 hours or 4 days of 9 hours with a half day on Friday). We treat children in 1-hour blocks, making the caseload manageable. Treatment notes and evaluations are written onsite through a user-friendly platform.
Experienced therapists or new graduates are welcome to apply.
Therapeutic Responsibilities
- Administer standardized assessments, including clinical observations to identify children’s skills in the areas of fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, visual motor, reflex integration, ocular motor, emotional regulation and self-care
- Identify functional barriers to daily performance skills in the areas of play, academic performance, social interaction, sensory processing and self-help skills
- Develop individualized treatment plans to address functional and performance deficits, including intervention strategies, measurable goals, home and school modifications and parent education
- Proactively research new diagnoses, treatment approaches and clinical evidence to support individualized patient care for diverse populations.
- Engage children of all abilities and temperaments in functional, regulating activities to optimize performance gains in skills as well as social engagement
- Effectively communicate with parents to ensure carryover of recommended strategies at home and in the community
- Complete timely documentation, including daily notes, goals, re-evaluation, progress notes as needed and discharge summaries
- Seek out collaboration with therapists and other professionals and expanded knowledge in the field of Occupational Therapy through continuing education
Clinic Responsibilities
- Maintain treatment areas and therapy equipment
- Follow sanitation and safety procedures
- Manage scheduling and productivity expectations
- Participate in collaboration with therapists, continuing education and staff meetings
- Share in clinic development and enhancement projects
Skills
- Excellent knowledge of principles and practices of occupational therapy, including the theory of sensory integration
- Current knowledge of treatment practices and willingness to learn and grow in the profession
- Ability to engage and build rapport with children of differing types of personalities and temperaments
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with children, parents, and co-workers
- Professional behavior and time management skills to complete documentation
- Valid license to practice occupational therapy in Texas
- Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy or COTA degree
