What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiology Tech Assistant position at Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio?
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Prepares patients for radiologic procedures under the supervision of a licensed Radiology Technologist (RT).
- Assists with positioning patients and setting up radiographic equipment in accordance with safety and procedural protocols.
- RT Assistants are strictly prohibited from taking or "shooting" X-rays independently. Any violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the radiology suite, including equipment sanitization and infection control.
- Supports with maintaining patient records, daily logbooks, and other documentation as directed by the supervising RT.
- Assists with entering charges for X-ray and casting procedures.
- Performs data entry and scans medical records into the EMR system.
- Maintains radiographic supplies and communicates ordering needs to appropriate personnel.
- Assists with clinical duties as needed and as directed by supervisors or licensed staff.
- Will receive training on how to assist with and complete orthopedic casting procedures in accordance with clinic standards. License Requirement: Candidates must obtain their Radiology Technologist license within 90 days of hire. Failure to obtain the license within this timeframe will result in reassignment to a different role or termination of employment.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Enrollment in or completion of a radiologic technology training program preferred.
EXPERIENCE: One year of experience in a medical or orthopedic clinic preferred.
Other Requirements: Must always work under the direct supervision of a licensed Radiology Technologist. Must adhere to all safety regulations and clinic protocols.
ABILITIES: Must demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and show initiative within scope of role.
