Coordinator, Event Security

The Opportunity

The Memphis Grizzlies are seeking a Coordinator of Event Security to serve as a hands-on member of the FedExForum security team. Reporting to the Manager, Event Security, this role supports the day-to-day execution of event security operations across all FedExForum events, including Memphis Grizzlies home games, concerts, family shows, and other live entertainment. The Coordinator assists with staffing, training, post assignments, dispatch, credentialing, and incident documentation, and serves as a key point of contact for contracted security personnel and event-day staff. The role works side by side with the Base Building Security Manager and the Base Building Security Coordinator to align event and base building coverage, and partners with the Manager, Security and Risk on training, credentialing, and special projects.

More than staffing posts and enforcing policy, the Coordinator helps set the tone for how guests experience FedExForum from the moment they arrive. This role anticipates needs, notices important details, and takes ownership of guest concerns while consistently upholding access, safety, and confidentiality standards.

In This Role You Will

Guest Experience And Hospitality

• Set the tone for the guest experience at every security touchpoint, from entry screening through post-event egress, helping create a welcoming, professional, and secure environment for fans, clients, and partners.
• Reinforce with event-day and contracted staff that hospitality and security work together, modeling how to apply screening and access requirements consistently, respectfully, and professionally.
• Anticipate guest and client needs, communicate delays or entry changes proactively, and take ownership of questions and concerns by coordinating with the appropriate internal teams.
• Remain composed and courteous during difficult interactions, de-escalating where possible and seeking support from leadership or emergency responders when a situation exceeds the position's authority or training.
• Identify opportunities to improve the arrival, screening, and entry experience, and share recommendations with the Manager, Event Security.
  
  

Event Security Operations

• Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for contracted security personnel, event-day staff, and other FedExForum departments, and present a warm, courteous, and professional presence to fans, clients, and external partners.
• Assist the Manager, Event Security with scheduling, check-in, and post assignments for contracted event security personnel and in-house event-day staff.
• Assist with building event deployment plans and staffing rosters, and help adjust post coverage in real time as event needs change.
• Distribute, review, and reinforce post orders with event-day staff before each event, confirming that expectations are clearly understood at every post.
• Help maintain and update standard operating procedures and post orders for event security services under the direction of the Manager, Event Security.
• Support the delivery of event-day staff training, including orientation, post-specific instruction, and emergency procedures, and assist the Base Building Security Manager and the Manager, Security and Risk with broader departmental training initiatives as needed.
• Support event dispatch operations, including radio communications, post checks, and routing requests for service during events.
• Partner with the Base Building Security Manager and the Base Building Security Coordinator on event credentialing and the issuance, tracking, and return of access cards and keys for FedExForum events.
• Coordinate with the Base Building Security Coordinator to ensure a seamless handoff between base building and event security coverage at the opening and close of each event.
• Serve as the point person for the loading dock during events, controlling access and vehicle movement with a professional and service-minded approach, and coordinate with valet operations on traffic flow, staging, and guest vehicle activity.
