Some duties of this job require interactions of a sensitive nature with participants. As a bona fide occupational qualification, we assign Support Staff to the primary campus, which most closely aligns with their gender identity. The Downtown Campus houses participants who identify as female or have a close gender alignment.
Post-conviction Supervision Status
Successful candidates for this position who are on parole or probation must have completed at least 1 year of supervision, have no violations of parole or probation in the past 9 months, and not be in a diversion program (e.g., SB416, Treatment Court, DUII Diversion, Restorative Justice).

Job Responsibilities
Monitor common areas and individual housing units to ensure the safety, security, and cleanliness of the facility.
- Conduct participant chore checks and room cleanliness checks to ensure all assigned tasks have been thoroughly completed. Collaborate with case management when necessary to help participants maintain program compliance in this area.
- Clean and prepare empty beds/rooms for incoming participants.
- Clean common areas of the campus and submit work orders when necessary.
- Tidy offices and empty waste/recycling receptacles nightly.
- Monitor visitors to the program and ensure their visits are restricted to the appropriate hours/spaces and that their behavior is appropriate at all times.
- Regularly walk the property, ensuring all exterior doors are locked. Log any activity that is out of the ordinary on the property or in the adjacent parking lot. Report any suspicious activity to the supervisor on duty or to authorities if needed.
- Regularly interact with each program participant in a professional manner, modeling appropriate boundaries and respect for all participants and staff.
- Welcome new participants to campus as needed. Review program guidelines with new participants to ensure full understanding of expectations and rules.
- Provide assistance and support to participants as needed, and in collaboration with case management staff.
- Distribute mail and file mail for past participants.
- Conduct and document scheduled urinalysis (UA) tests and random UAs as circumstances may require.
- Assemble start-up baskets for incoming participants.
- Conduct food inventory and deliver food boxes to participant units. Discard old/expired food and ensure cold items are put away in a timely manner.
- Ensure all relevant information is documented and communicated directly to case management staff and/or program supervisors.
- Log relevant participant interactions and information consistently and accurately into the electronic record-keeping system.
- Walk the property at least three times per night, ensuring all exterior doors are locked and noting any activity that is out of the ordinary on the property or in the adjacent parking lot. Report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
- Conduct participant room checks at random three times each night.
- Monitor visitors to the program; ensure their visits are restricted to the appropriate hours/spaces and that their behavior is appropriate at all times.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings.
- Participate in scheduled trainings as requested by management staff.
- Maintain regular direct communication, both written and verbal, with program supervisors and other Sponsors staff regarding participant progress and conduct, facilities operations, and organizational protocols/procedures. Serve as the “eyes and ears” for case management and administrative staff on day shift.
Requirements
Required Qualifications: (Shift 3)
- High school equivalency
- Minimum of 1 year as a Sponsors Support Staff (day shift) and be in good standing; -OR-
- 3 years’ experience providing direct support services in a social services setting.
- Candidates without Sponsors experience may substitute 1 year of direct support experience with certifications or higher education in addiction counseling, human services, or the mental health field.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- May work nights/weekends and holidays depending on assigned shift
- Knowledge of general safety procedures
- Dependable and responsive to available on-call hours
- Preferred experience in a social advocacy role
- Understanding of post-incarceration reentry program support
- Shared common office desk or workstation and office equipment
- Multi-building campus with participant housing and common areas
- Occasionally working in a refrigerated or freezer area to store and retrieve food items
- Shift assignment may require overnight facility oversight and participant interactions
- Walking up and down stairs
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Walking and standing indoors and outdoors in changing climates
- Ability to carry up to 25 lbs. up and down stairs
