What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audit Manager position at Spokane Airport?
Manage the audit functions in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Plan and direct workflow for annual external audits and an internal audit program. Assist CFO with special projects as necessary.
Security Requirements
- Plan, organize and act as liaison for external audit activities, including training staff in audit procedures
- In conjunction with CFO, prepare annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR)
- Lead preparation of the annual audits, including federal grant, Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) and accountability with State Auditor’s Office
- Responsible for all statements and schedules required for submission to the State Auditor’s Office and Federal Clearinghouse and ensuring timely submission of all required reporting.
- Lead implementation of corrective actions identified as part of the Airport’s annual audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Develop a thorough internal audit program for airport tenants
- In conjunction with accounting manager, review current processes and make recommendations for development of best practices in the Airport environment
- In conjunction with CFO and accounting manager, assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies, controls and procedures, including new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements
- Assist with special projects, at the direction of the CFO
- Assist with accounting, financial, budgeting, and other business process improvements, internal controls and maintaining accurate financial records
- Assist in identifying internal areas of discrepancies, deficiencies and any suspected fraud or areas of heightened risk; develop list of possible solutions to identified areas
- Research and analyze complex accounting, financial, and tax related transactions
- Assist other Finance and Accounting team members and management as needed
- Perform other tasks as assigned
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other related field
- At least ten (10) years progressively responsible experience with audit functions. A combination of education and experience may be considered to meet the requirements of this position
- CPA license required
- Prefer experience in, or exposure to, enterprise fund accounting
- Thorough knowledge of professional accounting and auditing principles and procedures
- Experience in government accounting preferred but not required
- High-level working knowledge of computerized accounting systems
- Knowledge of GASB, Washington State Sales and Excise tax reporting
- Strong audit skills and experience
- Broad range of accounting skill sets
- Strong Excel modeling skills
- General understanding of accounting and legal agreements
- Ability to quickly learn and retain concepts that may be unfamiliar

Security Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport security badge as a condition of employment.
- Regular contact with co-workers, department heads, tenants, and vendors.
- Most work is performed in an office environment with limited exposure to other areas of the Airport. There may be occasional travel required for continuing professional development. This position requires hours outside of regular work schedule, which may include evenings and weekends.
Salary : $83,686 - $118,587
