Roles & Responsibilities:
Do you perform well under pressure and during high-stress situations? Are you at least 18 years old? Do you have a valid NYS Security Guard License? Do you enjoy creating a safe environment and engaging with guests in a positive and friendly manner? If you answered yes to these questions, you might just be the perfect addition to our security team! The Security role is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for guests and employees. The perfect candidate should have an eye for detail, a knack for problem-solving, and an ability to remain calm in stressful situations. A valid NYS Security Guard License is required
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Schedule: 8 am - 4 pm, Sat / Sun (Hours will increase when the park opens for the season)
- Enforce all Park rules and regulations
- Monitor Park assets with intent to ensure the safety of all our guests and employees
- Maintain constant vigilance while the park is operating to identify any potential issues or safety concerns; communicate any potential issues to other departments and/or leadership in a timely manner
- Conduct bag checks to prevent prohibited items from entering the park
- Maintain compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures to create a safe environment for colleagues and guests
- Monitor guest safety and communicate conflicts to supervisors on duty
- Take control of emergency and intense situations while remaining calm
- Professionally manage crowd control during emergency situations
- Continuously monitor guest behaviors and attempt to curtail any potential situations before they escalate further
- Exercise clear and concise communications with all park departments
- Assist in safety prevention efforts, including responding to all safety calls, fire alarms, and emergencies.
- Utilized electronic card access, closed circuit television, and other audio/visual monitoring systems, monitors and supervises the response to all reports or irregular conditions, including the unauthorized entry of persons or vehicles to protected buildings and areas, breaches of perimeter security or any other suspicious activities occurring on the property.
- Authorize access to facilities and ensure that access is controlled.
- Maintain and review security records; periodically report on trends, anomalies, and concerns
- Other duties as assigned to support the park
- Starting rate of pay: $22 / hr.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent; Equivalent work experience will also be considered
- 1 year of previous security or related experience highly desired
- NYS Security Guard License is required
- Crowd Management Training Certificate is preferred
Language:
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to work third shift (overnight) if the park security operates on a 24-hour schedule
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- NYS Security Guard License is Required
- Ability to address multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills, ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns
- Excellent interviewing, listening, and note-taking skills.
- Ability to maintain certifications as required by assignment.
- Ability to operate dispatch radio and/or other communication devices.
- Ability to analyze people and/or situations quickly and calmly and take appropriate actions in a quick and effective manner.
- Ability to professionally and calmly deal with stressful and/or tense situations.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to collaborate with external first responders and emergency personnel.
- Ability to apply knowledge of security methods, procedures, and techniques to specific situations.
- Ability to operate a variety of electronic equipment, such as cameras, radios, and/or personal computers.
- Ability to deal fairly, objectively, and courteously with the public without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to sit or stand for long period of time
- Ability to walk long distances throughout the park
- Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor setting for long periods of time
- Ability to withstand heat, humidity, direct sun, cold, rain, and other weather elements
- Good visual acuity, night vision, and peripheral vision.
- Ability to walk, stand, or run on uphill, downhill, or uneven surfaces.
- Ability to kneel, stoop, or twist for long periods of time
- Occasional bending, squatting and reaching above shoulders
- Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to tolerate loud noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments
- Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to the variable outside and inside temperatures, including high heat, cold, humidity, dust, rain, and other weather conditions
- Exposure to a variety of stressful emergency situations involving people or property
- Frequent interaction with all outdoor and indoor areas of the park
- Some sedentary motion, while sitting and utilizing computer/camera equipment
- Fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities and challenges
- Subject to dark environments, particularly during midnight shift
- Subject to constant repetitive motion
- Subject to frequent loud noises and flashing lights
