Summary Of Duty
The computer technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining all district computing devices and peripherals. The technician will also maintain an accurate inventory of all devices. They are responsible for the Creation and deployment of computer images as needed. Using the work order system, the technician will perform daily tasks on a first-come, first-served basis, unless otherwise instructed for emergency work orders.

Equipment Used: frequent use of small hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations. Personal computers and peripherals, including modems and printers.
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, climbing, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular lifting and carrying (30-50 pounds)
Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours, frequent district-wide travel

Installation
- Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district.
- Install network cabling and network peripherals throughout the district.
- Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.
- Install and configure software as needed, with the ability to create and install computer images on various machine types.
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications and equipment.
- Follow through with all projects and tasks until completion.
- Manage all netbooks, laptops, and other portable district devices.
- Maintain records for all mobile technology, including COWS (computers on wheels) and any other mobile devices.
- Complete daily tasks as they arrive in the work order system.
- You are expected to stay on task and complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Diagnose and repair equipment, including printers, terminals, and personal computers.
- Service equipment according to the established preventive maintenance schedule.
- Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing and carrying.
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
- Sandals or any open-toe shoes are NOT permitted in the workplace.
