A Medication Technician (often called a Med Tech or Certified Medication Aide) in an assisted living facility safely administers prescribed medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Key Daily Responsibilities
- Medication Administration: Preparing and dispensing oral medications, drops, or topical treatments accurately.
- Safety & Compliance: Counting narcotics at the start and end of shifts and adhering to state regulations.
- Observation: Tracking how residents react to medications and reporting any adverse effects to nursing staff.
- Record Keeping: Documenting exactly what was given and when in the electronic health records. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written instructions in English.
- Ability to speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate with residents.

- Must be willing to work weekends & holidays
- Rotating 4 on 2 off schedule.
