CNC Set Up Operator

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical blueprints, CAD drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to accurately set up CNC machines..
• Prepare and install tooling, fixtures, and workpieces on CNC milling machines and lathes, ensuring proper alignment using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines.
• Conduct machine calibration, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
• Ensure all parts meet quality standards by inspecting finished products using precision tools like dial indicators, height gauges, and other measurement devices.
• Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
• Maintain detailed documentation of setups, adjustments, inspections, and production logs for traceability.

Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in machining processes including CNC programming and operation..
• Familiarity with GD&T principles to ensure parts meet precise tolerances.
• Experience operating CNC milling machines controlled by Fanuc or similar controllers.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines.
• Knowledge of tooling setup, hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and tooling management.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tasks.
• Mechanical aptitude combined with a proactive approach to troubleshooting machine issues promptly. Pay: $24.45 - $29.45 per hour
