SUMMARY
Manages and executes all responsibilities of the HR function for assigned division, including employee relations, benefits and human resources policies. Collaborates on strategic initiatives, and partners with leaders and managers to support employee development. Assist in maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have the following general/minimum responsibilities:
- Assists in administering HR policies and procedures as required by the company.
- Helps to ensure compliance with Federal and State Employments Laws.
- Serves as a point of contract for all current and prospective employees with employee inquiries, information about policies, job duties, working conditions and employee benefits.
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
- Assist with the Recruiting Process; job posting, coordinating interviews, sending offer letters, processing pre-employment background screening, and coordinating pre-employment drug testing.
- Delivers new hire orientation and supports managers to establish a smooth onboarding process, including review and enhancement of department training programs.
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files, including monthly review for expiration of documents.
- Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, new hire and open enrollments, qualifying event changes, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
- Oversee Evidence of Insurability requirements for life insurance for all employees.
- Handles FMLA administration, personal leave, and manage STD & LTD claims for all employees.
- Processes weekly and biweekly payroll, review timesheets and run reports to ensure labor hours are correct for payroll processing.
- Enters compensation changes, benefits deductions and wage garnishment information into system in an accurate and timely manner.
- Processing and distributing paychecks.
- Manages employee training records for Apprenticeship program and conduct audits for all employees.
- Prepares monthly and weekly human resource-related reports for management, Finance department, and HR leadership.
- Maintains and keeps secure employee files and documentation.
- Manages employee relations by addressing employee concerns, mediate workplace conflicts, diagnoses root causes and identifies appropriate interventions.
- Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations. Recommends methods to minimize or prevent future issues to promote a positive work environment, ensuring company policies, practices and employee resources are fair and consistently applied.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management and participates in employee meetings (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Processes terminations.
- Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.
- Assists with the preparation of the performance review process. Annually in April
- Manages employee uniforms, tenure awards and referral bonus.
- Assist with HR Audits and other special related projects as required. Typically performed in January
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
The following education, experience and knowledge are preferred for this position:
- Minimum of 5 years of HR generalist experience in a mid-sized organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience partnering with managers and senior leaders to support HR activities.
- Experience with payroll and HRIS platforms such as ADP Workforce Now preferred.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including federal and state respective employment laws.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office software.
- Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish) required.
- Relevant industry experience is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMAND
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
- Occasional trips to shop environment which may include exposure to dust, dirt and forklift traffic.
- Frequent sitting and operating a computer.
- Some travel between different company locations and for vendor and/or client contact.
