System Support Specialist
The System Support Specialist is responsible for the daily and routine maintenance and support of the information technology function in the Casino, Encompassing networked software systems, and all other software installed on any computer used by the Casino, as well as the repair and maintenance of all hardware. Specifically, the System Support Specialist is responsible for:
· Performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, and reviewing system and application logs.
· Verifying completion of scheduled jobs, such as system backups.
· Investigating user problems, identifying their source, and determining possible solutions, and testing and implementing such solutions.
· Maintaining site licenses for departments and organizations.
· Planning and implementing network security, including working with the network engineering staff to configure firewalls, managing host security and file permissions, backup and recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users in a variety of PC, Mac, Unix, Linux, Aix, and i50S-based environments.
· Troubleshooting systems and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
· Establishing and performing maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
· Investigating, recommending, and installing enhancements and operating procedures that optimize system and user efficiency.
· Maintain confidentiality with regard to all company information.
· Documenting system and application problems and resolutions for future reference.
· Performing regular file archival and purging as necessary.
· Other duties as assigned by the IT Manager.
The Systems Support Specialist must possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED. An associate’s degree in a computer-related course or have completed an equivalent MIS or related certification. The System Support Specialist must possess good organizational skills and have two years’ experience in managerial or supervisory level positions. The individual must be able to pass a private background check, as well as a pre-employment drug test. The System Support Specialist must be able to pull, bend, and squat, and lift up to 50 pounds. The System Support Specialist must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. The immediate working environment is smoke-free, but the individual must be able to perform duties in the smoke-filled environment of the Casino floor and other Casino areas.
