Job Overview:
The Clinical Supervisor provides supervision to all clinical staff, performs weekly chart audits, and partners with a variety of departments to ensure a holistic approach to the recovery process during a client’s time at inpatient treatment as well as their aftercare.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assisting in writing, reviewing, and updating policies based on Provider Alerts from the state, county, and MCOs, or additions into the facility that require a procedure or policy.
- Enter large group notes for every client into the Credible service when they are conducted.
- Assist in client interventions (Behavioral, wishes to AFA, etc.)
- Sign off on every client’s treatment plan and weekly treatment plan reviews.
- Update Curriculum and Schedules as state and MCOs dictate
- Address client grievances within 48 hours if grievance pertains to the clinical department
- Manage time/pay/schedules of all hourly clinical staff
- Maintain a caseload of one at times of full capacity.
- Contacting emergency contacts of clients if nursing is unable to during an AFA or Discharge
- Interventions with staff when experiencing emotional difficulties with responsibilities of their position (Client deaths, behaviorally discharging a client, informing family members of an AFA or discharge and consoling the family member(s), etc)
- Updating Credible forms and participating in Credible training
- Assisting in behavioral discharges of clients
- Maintaining and posting the clinical caseloads daily
- Updating client contract records.
- Assist clinical staff in issuing client contracts or goals
- Oversee trauma services; ensure the service is being explained and offered on a regular basis.
- Scan family visit forms, contracts, AFA forms, legal contacts, and an array of other documentation into Credible service for each client.
- Collaboration with RA, Medical, Intake, Admission, and Detox departments to insure a therapeutic and communicative atmosphere
- Retrieval and submission of clinical documentation for past clients that are applying for SSD, SSDI, etc.
- Creating and posting weekly clinical schedule
- Attending facility meetings as they arise
- Creating and posting family visitation signup sheet weekly
- Creating and posting the laundry schedule monthly
- Oversight of Family Satisfaction Surveys and communication.
- Communication with CRS services and monthly visits to the facility.
- Oversight of Psychiatric Evaluation and services/issues.
- Address MCO client complaints (conduct interviews, collect chart and paperwork info for submission)
- Attending tours and collaboration with other treatment providers.
- Maintaining 25 hours of required training per year
- Annual Performance reviews for clinical staff
- Attend SPATF meetings if Director is unable.
- Clinical supervision of entire department
- Minimum of one hour per week for Counselor Assistants and Counselors within 90-day orientation period.
- Minimum of one hour biweekly for Counselors and Lead Counselors
- Minimum of one hour biweekly for Continuing Care Coordinator and Case Coordinator
- Perform chart audits for quality documentation for each member of the clinical team weekly.
- Attend Leadership meetings every morning.
- Facilitate Clinical Meetings once per week for 2 hours.
- Quality assurance of programs and groups being provided and address standards of care accordingly.
- Review and sign off on incident reports. Do a root cause analysis on significant incidents and make policy changes as needed. Reporting high level incident reports to AICDAC, DDAP, and Insurance Companies.
- Supervision with Executive Director on monthly basis
- Ensure Clinical Staff is up to date on recommended and required trainings
- Assist clinical staff in maintaining their treatment plans and ASAM reviews
- Updating outdated forms or forms in need of revision
- Review all Client Surveys and address any changes that need to be made with President/and or department supervisors
- Collaborate with medical staff on other issues (bed passes, outside visits, UDS results, Etc.)
- Ensure all staff are meeting their 1st year and annual training requirements for state and MCOs and yearly requirements after 1 year.
- Attend Drug Task Force Coalition Meetings.
- Attend and facilitate weekly family visits
- Maintain and update the family log on the S drive
- Oversee documentation of items and money that families bring for visits
- Scan all family visitation forms into clients’ Credible chart
- Participating in family education groups and services
- Work with IRETA on a weekly (2 days per week) basis to work towards ASAM alignment/certification.
- Meet Bi-annually for stakeholder meeting with IRETA.
- Run or co-facilitate agency provided trainings (Professional Boundaries, CPI, etc.)
- Facilitate state audit and pre-submission/on site submissions and face to face as necessary.
- Manage any surprise on site audits from state and notify President
- Interviewing, hiring, firing, issuing written warnings, for clinical department.
- Complete and maintain supervision records for each member of the clinical team.
- Attend Monthly Carelon meetings.
- Keep insight on health of the community (monitor amount of jail pilots, mental health patients, patients in poor health requiring extra monitoring, etc.)
- Co-facilitate as counselor when a client’s care is beyond counselor’s scope of practice
- Keep in touch with outside service providers for continued collaboration (PCS, AICDAC, LDA, Westmoreland Case management, etc.) engage in problem solving issues, meet and greets with team, etc.
- Ensure accessibility to required trainings (i.e. ASAM library, state trainings, DDAP, Change Companies)
- Talent acquisition (assuring there is a mix of modalities on team to provided rounded care for clients)
- Assist all police and parole on premise with presenting issues while maintaining the rights of the clients.
- Maintain an atmosphere, within supervision of staff, of self-care and compassion fatigue. Speak to teams regularly about what it is, how to recognize, and effective ways to manage to provide optimum services to client.
Qualifications
- · Master’s Degree or above with a major in medicine, chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field AND 2 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent

- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human service) or other related field AND 3 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year working directly with the chemically dependent person
OR
- Associate's degree with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field AND 4 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes working
