Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles, including manual transmission trucks, across designated routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using forklifts or other equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling of various cargo types such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, or roll-off containers.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement.
- Deliver freight accurately to multiple destinations while adhering to scheduled routes and delivery windows.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries while providing exceptional customer service.
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws to ensure personal safety and that of others on the road.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating trucks with manual transmissions preferred.
- Proven truck driving experience with a focus on freight delivery, route driving, or similar roles.
- Ability to operate specialized equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks when required.
- Knowledge of different trailer types including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and roll-off trucks.
- Strong understanding of load securement procedures for various cargo types.
