What you’ll do:

 Under the supervision of clinical Supervisors, safely transports patients throughout the health care facility preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively. Ensures timely and safe operating room preparation for center efficiency and patient safety.  

Transports equipment, supplies, and other items in a safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.  

Responsibilities/Duties:  

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.   

  • Follow established protocols for safe patient handling (eg, safely moving, transferring, and transporting patients).  

  • Follow established protocols for transporting equipment, supplies, and other items  

  • Follow established protocols for maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors.  

  • Carry out the safe and thorough turnover of operating rooms between procedures to ensure SCOA efficiency and patient safety.  

  • Follow established protocols for using communication devices (eg, pagers, computers, cell phones).  

  • Operate, transport, and transfer equipment safely and according to the manufacturer’s instructions for use.  

  • Safely move, transfer, and transport patients onto transport vehicles (eg, wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds, OR beds).  

  • Adhere to infection prevention practices (ie, standard, contact, droplet, and airborne precautions), including the use of personal protective equipment.  

  • Clean designated areas and equipment and follow safety procedures and manufacturer’s instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies, and equipment.  

  • Follow established protocols for safe disposal of linens, trash, and supplies.  

  • Inventory, receive, and restock materials used for supporting perioperative services as assigned.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

  • Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.  

  • Exhibit professional interpersonal communication skills.   

  • Assist with quality improvement activities as assigned.  

  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.  

Qualifications:

Who you are: 

  • High school graduate or equivalent  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification   

  • Preferred Recent patient transporter experience in a perioperative setting   

  • Preferred Recent patient transporter experience in an acute care setting    

  • Basic computer skills
