We are looking for an experienced industrial mechanic and machine builder seeking stable long-term work with competitive hourly pay and overtime opportunities.
This position is best suited for experienced industrial mechanics, millwrights, or machine builders who can work independently and troubleshoot production equipment with minimal supervision.
Position Summary:
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic / Machine Builder/ Mechanical Assembler is responsible for the precision assembly, installation, troubleshooting, and mechanical maintenance of industrial machinery and automated equipment. This role requires advanced mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret complex technical drawings, and experience with machine alignment, mechanical systems, and equipment diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform precision mechanical assembly of industrial machinery, tooling, and automated equipment from detailed blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
· Install and align mechanical components including motors, gearboxes, linear guides, bearings, couplings, conveyors, and drive systems.
· Perform equipment layout, mechanical fitting, shaft alignment, and component calibration during machine build or installation.
· Diagnose mechanical failures using systematic troubleshooting methods and implement corrective repairs.
· Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production equipment and mechanical systems.
· Disassemble, inspect, and rebuild mechanical assemblies including pumps, drive units, and motion systems.
· Install and service pneumatic and hydraulic components such as cylinders, valves, regulators, and manifolds.
· Utilize precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and alignment tools.
· Support machine commissioning, testing, and equipment start-up activities.
· Work closely with engineering, controls technicians, and production teams to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
· Document assembly procedures, repairs, and maintenance activities in maintenance systems or work orders.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
· Strong knowledge of mechanical power transmission systems (gears, belts, chains, couplings).
· Experience with mechanical alignment, tolerance stack-ups, and precision fitting.
· Ability to interpret complex mechanical drawings and assembly diagrams.
· Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
· Knowledge of industrial safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
· Experience with rigging, hoists, and equipment installation.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· 3–5 years of experience in machine building, industrial maintenance, or mechanical equipment assembly.
· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery.
· Proficiency with mechanical hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related field.
· Experience with automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, or CNC machinery.
· Welding, machining, or fabrication experience.
· Experience supporting equipment installation and commissioning projects.
Work Environment:
Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, mechanical systems, and production equipment. Position may require lifting, climbing, standing for extended periods, and occasional overtime during machine installations or maintenance shutdowns.
