What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laundromat Operations & Maintenance Manager position at Spintastic Laundry?
Laundromat Operations & Maintenance Manager
We are a 20-year-old, family-owned, fully attended laundromat serving the Charlotte area and are looking for an Operations & Maintenance Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our store.
Lead a Business—Don’t Just Manage a Store
- Are you the kind of person who enjoys leading people, solving problems, keeping things organized, and fixing things when they break? If so, we'd like to meet you.
- This is not a typical retail management position.
- Our Operations Manager is a hands-on leader who keeps the business running smoothly by leading a small team, delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining our equipment, improving daily operations, and ensuring our customers enjoy a clean, safe, and welcoming environment every day.
- If you enjoy variety, taking ownership, and making a visible impact on a business, this could be an excellent long-term opportunity. This position reports directly to the owner.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Unlike large corporate companies, you’ll have the opportunity to make real decisions and see the direct results of your work.
- Every day is different.
- One hour you may be coaching an employee, the next helping a customer, troubleshooting a washer, improving a process, or ensuring our commercial laundry orders are completed on time.
- You’ll have the freedom to solve problems, improve operations, and help shape the future of the business.
- This position has the potential to expand to overseeing multiple locations.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Delivering an Outstanding Customer Experience
- You’ll ensure every customer experiences a clean, friendly, safe and professionally operated laundromat by:
- Greeting and assisting customers
- Helping customers use washers, dryers and laundry card equipment
- Resolving customer concerns professionally
- Maintaining our high standards for safety, cleanliness and organization
- Creating a welcoming environment where customers enjoy doing business with us
Lead and Develop Our Team
- You’ll supervise a team of 3–4 attendants and help create a positive, accountable workplace.
- Responsibilities include:
- Employee scheduling
- Hiring and onboarding new employees
- Training and coaching team members
- Monitoring performance
- Enforcing company policies consistently
- Leading by example
- Building a culture of teamwork, professionalism and accountability
Oversee Wash-Dry-Fold Operations
- You’ll manage both individual customer orders and commercial laundry accounts by ensuring:
- High-quality standards
- Accurate order completion
- Efficient workflow
- Excellent customer communication
- On-time completion
Perform Equipment Maintenance & Repairs
- This is one of the most important parts of the position.
- We’re looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work and has good mechanical aptitude.
- You’ll be expected to:
- Troubleshoot washers, dryers and related equipment
- Perform routine preventative maintenance
- Replace common components such as switches, valves, igniters and similar parts
- Use hand tools and small power tools safely and effectively
- Identify potential equipment problems before they become major repairs
- Coordinate larger repairs with outside service providers when appropriate
- Previous laundromat experience is not required, however, mechanical aptitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn are essential.
Manage Daily Operations
- You’ll also oversee many of the day-to-day business functions including:
- Inventory management
- Ordering store and vending supplies
- Petty cash accountability
- Vending inventory
- Store appearance
- Safety inspections
- Preventative maintenance schedules
- Process improvements
- Operational efficiency
Schedule
- This is a full-time leadership position averaging 40–45 hours per week.
- Most shifts are worked alongside an attendant, but the position also includes 1–2 independent shifts each week, where you’ll oversee store operations, assist customers, and make decisions independently.
- Some weekend work is required, but not every weekend.
We’re Looking for Someone Who…
- Takes ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do
- Enjoys solving problems
- Is organized and detail-oriented
- Can balance customer service with employee leadership
- Has a positive, professional attitude
- Is dependable and trustworthy
- Communicates well with customers and employees
- Can prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Enjoys both leadership and hands-on work
- Wants a long-term career rather than “just another job”
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities
- Mechanical aptitude
- Comfortable using hand tools and small power tools
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Reliable transportation
- Good driving record
Preferred
- Spanish/English bilingual
- Retail, hospitality, or service-industry experience
- Preventative maintenance and equipment repair experience
