Senior Project Manager (Heavy Civil / Underground Utility Construction Company)

Headquarters in New Jersey, we also have office locations in Maryland, Washington D.C., and California.The Senior Project Manager will provide the overall direction, completion and financial outcome of civil construction projects as directed. This role will provide oversight with mentoring, coaching, and guidance to project managers and project engineers. The ability to provide senior level leadership is a critical aspect for this role. This role will encompass the planning, execution and closeout of multiple projects and budgets, including acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and subcontractors to deliver the specific project action items as referenced within the specifications, drawings and executed contract.Manage and oversee multiple construction projects while maintaining client baseMonitor and provide guidance as it pertains to change orders, bid process and cost proposals to clientsProvide senior level expertise with project managers to secure favorable pricing and contract terms with subcontractors and material vendorsEnforce overall Site-Specific Safety PlanDirect and manage project development from beginning to end for multiple projectsDefine and track overall project scope, milestones, and deliverables in collaboration with the project team and end userDevelop, manage and schedule internal staff for all phases of construction as it pertains to Spiniello jobsEnsure corporate policies, procedures and ethical standards are followed by the project managers and engineersAssist with the hiring and recruiting of Project Managers and EngineersProvide overall communication to senior level leadership as it pertains to project expectations and objectivesCommunicate and meet as needed with project stakeholders on an ongoing basisProvide the necessary planning for the resources needed to achieve project goalsProvide oversight and guidance in the preparation of Project Cost ReportingProactively oversee changes in project scopes, identify potential crises and devise contingency plansOverall responsibility for safety, quality and budget for projectsPeriodic reviews of project status reports and ensuring work adheres to contract specifications.Leading and directing the work of others to include subcontractorsEffectively communicate corporate information to the project team as well as ensuring project files are organized by project management staffDirect and supervise the work of project administration, project superintendents and engineers to establish operation priorities and maintaining satisfactory relationshipsEstablish/Define/Promote values, expectations and performance standards for team and individual members in accordance with the Spiniello mission, vision, and valuesResponsible for the overall management of the project management team (e.g., resources, schedule, cost tracking) to ensure complete solutions are delivered on time and within budgetEngage with the Purchasing and Fleet departments setting up major equipment and project needsBuild, develop and grow customer relationships vital to the success of the Spiniello organizationOversee project reviews with project managers and develop a lesson learned synopsis to identify successful and unsuccessful project elementsRegional Responsibilities:Work with the Senior Management to develop strategies for cultivating prospects and obtaining work.Responsible for market analysis and evaluation of competition and future bidding opportunitiesIdentify and meet with potential teaming partnersResearch and develop business case for expansion into new geographic areas or different project typesParticipate in industry associations, seminars, trade shows and events to develop market awareness.Network with industry professionals to identify opportunities. Serve as lead on RFQ / RFP proposal responses and see them through to completion.Analyzes estimated vs. actual costs upon project completionTakes input from project managers regarding labor and equipment hours, construction methods, and adjusts estimating cost factors as necessaryReviews budget and project profitability status and goals with Senior Management and project team as requiredPosition Requirements and QualificationsExpert knowledge of Civil Construction, Earthwork, and Utilities construction. Ability to apply efficient, innovative, and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance and project success. Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices and standards, processes, and activities.Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or comparable experienceStrong Civil Construction, Trenchless Technologies and Underground Utility experienceExperienced in reading drawings, takeoffs and detailed specification understandingFamiliar with local, state and federal municipalities and agenciesExperience in managing multiple large complex construction projectsThorough understanding of construction accountingMinimum of 10-15 years of project experience in Civil Construction/Underground Utility ConstructionFamiliar with deep excavations, drainage, water, sewer, trenchless technologies and other civil construction scopesCreativity and innovation a must to provide innovative solutionsStrong analytical skills with the ability to interact and collaborate at all levelsMust have excellent team building skills with effective communicationStrong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPointWorking knowledge of Sage Timberline and HCSSFlexibility to travel, work after hours, and nights/weekends based on demands of various projectsStrong prioritization and organizational skillsExcellent verbal and written communicationPassion for the work and industry. Independent with strong leadership skillsKnowledge of alternative delivery methods (Design/Build, CMAR, etc.) a plus
