Position Summary:
The Regional Director is responsible for providing operational leadership, clinical oversight, and strategic direction for the Spine Solutions Ambulatory Surgery Centers (SSASC). This role supervises all clinical staff and peri-operative activities to ensure safe, high-quality, and cost-effective surgical care aligned with SSASC policies, regulatory requirements, and patient-centered standards.
The Regional Director ensures the readiness, compliance, and excellence of the surgery center, while promoting teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement in clinical outcomes, staff performance, and patient satisfaction.
This position is employed by SSASC and approved by the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise all clinical and surgical suite activities to ensure best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Provide expert guidance in all perioperative areas: Pre-Op, Intra-Op, and Post-Op.
- Be available and able to work as a staff RN in all perioperative areas, as needed.
- Manage daily clinical operations, workflow, and schedules to optimize patient care and staff efficiency.
- Facilitate daily huddles to discuss schedules, SOPs, physician preferences, and provide team motivation.
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly clinical staff meetings to discuss issues, priorities, and performance.
Human Resources & Staff Management
- Lead clinical staff hiring, orientation, and onboarding.
- Create and manage monthly staffing plans and daily assignments to ensure adequate coverage.
- Monitor performance, facilitate annual reviews, and recommend wage changes to the VP of Operations.
- Support staff development by implementing training programs, in-services, and ongoing competencies.
- Provide timely feedback, coaching, and recognition to team members.
- Model professional conduct and maintain a positive, team-centered environment.
- Ensure all staff complete mandatory annual training.
- Oversee infection control RN and ensure all aspects of regulatory compliance are adhered to.
Communication & Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison between clinical staff, physicians, implant reps, and executive leadership.
- Maintain effective communication with Quality Improvement and Regulatory RN, VP of Operations and Medical Director regarding clinical operations, equipment, staffing, and issues.
- Represent clinical interests during management, quality, and accreditation meetings.
- Ensure timely communication of SOP, protocol updates, and physician preference changes.
Compliance, Licensure, and Accreditation
- Maintain current RN licensure in the state of Wisconsin, BLS, and ACLS certifications.
- Maintain all employee files to ensure compliance and updated licensure.
- Oversee and manage survey readiness, including documentation, safety, and infection prevention.
- Remain up to date with all federal, state, and accrediting body standards (e.g., CMS, AAAHC).
- Lead or assist with the accreditation process in collaboration with the Quality Improvement and Regulatory RN and VP of Operations.
Quality Management & Process Improvement
- Responsible for oversite of QAPI and other quality-focused committees to ensure quality and active improvement studies are ongoing.
- Create tools to track and report quality initiatives, including patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Implement operational improvements and monitor their effectiveness.
- Support or lead infection control practices and training.
Equipment, Supplies, and Fiscal Responsibility
- Manage procurement, maintenance, and inventory of clinical equipment and supplies.
- Submit and prioritize capital equipment needs to the VP of Operations.
- Monitor supply costs and identify opportunities for cost-effective solutions.
- Provide case-cost analyses and contribute to financial efficiency reporting.
- Approve all site invoices and send to accounts payable.
