Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to join our orthopedic spine surgery practice in a hybrid role combining Medical Front Desk Receptionist and Medical Scribe responsibilities. This full-time position requires a highly organized, personable, and adaptable professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment as well as on their own. This position will mainly be receptionist though a scribe responsibility might be needed every other week.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Front Desk Receptionist Duties:
- Greet and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and route messages appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EMR system, ECW.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments and procedures.
- Ensure the front office, waiting areas, and patient rooms are organized and welcoming.
Medical Scribe Duties:
- Accompany the physician during patient consultations and procedures (in-person and/or virtual).
- Accurately document the patient history, physical exam findings, assessments, and treatment plans in real-time within the electronic medical record (ECW).
- Assist in preparing and editing medical reports, correspondence, and documentation.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate with the medical team to ensure accurate and efficient patient care.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting (front desk, scribe, or both).
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, especially orthopedic/spine-related terminology.
- Familiarity with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks preferred).
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to type over 60 WPM.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion in patient-facing interactions.
- Can work at our Tampa area offices as well if travel isn't a problem
