Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Medical Transport Driver to provide safe, timely, and compassionate transportation services for patients requiring medical assistance. Duties
- Safely operate medical transport vehicles, including shuttle vans, paratransit buses, or similar vehicles designed for patient transport
- Assist patients with boarding and exiting the vehicle, providing support as needed for those with mobility challenges
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper securing of wheelchairs and stretchers during transit
- Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of the vehicle to ensure optimal operation and hygiene standards
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, healthcare staff, and patients to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times efficiently
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns
- Handle heavy lifting when assisting patients with mobility devices or equipment, ensuring proper techniques to prevent injury
Experience
- Previous shuttle driving or delivery driver experience preferred, especially in healthcare or senior living settings
- Experience operating buses, limousines, or commercial vehicles such as heavy-duty trucks is advantageous
- Familiarity with paratransit services or school bus driving enhances suitability for this role
- Strong communication skills necessary for interacting professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and team members
- Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and basic repairs as needed
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type (e.g., CDL for larger vehicles) with a clean driving record
- Comfort with heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks required for assisting patients safely
