What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Acquisition Specialist position at Spinal Technology?
Are you the type of person who color-codes your calendar, gets excited about a clean CRM, and lights up when a well-crafted email campaign converts? Do you love the idea of working at the intersection of healthcare, marketing, and sales — where your organizational superpowers actually help improve patients’ lives?
We’re looking for a sharp, creative, and deeply organized Customer Acquisition Specialist to join Spinal Technology’s Customer Relations Team. This newly created role reports directly to the Marketing Manager and is built for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment — someone who can juggle multiple priorities without dropping a single ball.
You’ll be the engine behind our customer acquisition funnel — using digital marketing platforms, CRM workflows, outbound outreach, and event presence to identify, engage, and convert prospective customers including orthopedic surgeons, prosthetists, physical therapists, and orthotists. This is not a traditional sales role buried under a quota sheet. You’ll partner with the Marketing Manager, Customer Relations Executive, and clinical education teams to build a pipeline that performs.
Based out of our West Yarmouth, Massachusetts or Louisville, Kentucky office with up to 20% travel, including national O&P trade shows, regional sales meetings, and occasional customer site visits.
Pipeline Development & Customer Acquisition
• Research, identify, and build a prospect pipeline across target markets: orthotic and spine practices, physical therapy clinics, rehabilitation hospitals, DME suppliers, and prosthetic clinics.
• Manage the acquisition pipeline in Monday.com, ensuring consistent follow-up, accurate activity tracking, and clean data at every stage of the funnel.
• Leverage databases, association directories, referral networks, and trade show contacts to source and qualify leads.
• Track pipeline status, conversion metrics, and competitive intelligence, providing regular updates to the Marketing Manager.
Marketing-Driven Outreach & Campaign Execution
• Support the development and distribution of inbound and outbound digital and print marketing materials — email campaigns, product sell sheets, brochures, and social media content — maintaining a consistent brand voice.
• Schedule and manage content; Track campaign performance and compile analytic reports across all digital platforms and other KPIs.
• Assist in keeping product pages and news sections on the company website accurate and current.
Sales Execution & Account Onboarding
• Partner with Customer Relations Executive to ensure seamless onboarding of new accounts — preparing welcome kits, coordinating initial training resources, and managing the handoff from prospect to active customer.
• Conduct occasional in-person visits to key accounts and university partners to deliver product education materials and reinforce relationships.
Trade Show & Event Coordination
• Assist with end-to-end logistics for national trade show participation: shipping, travel arrangements, and on-site setup and teardown.
• Actively represent the company at key industry events such as AAOP, AOPA, and regional O&P annual meetings.
• Maintain an annual calendar of industry events, sponsorship opportunities, and submission deadlines, and capture all leads promptly into Monday.com for Customer Relations Executive follow-up.
Collaboration & Administrative Support
• Work closely with the Marketing Manager and Customer Relations Executive to align acquisition strategies, sales presentations, and customer-facing collateral with company goals.
• Maintain and organize the marketing asset library, ensuring all materials are current, compliant, and accessible to the full Customer Relations team.
• Process and track marketing expenditures, vendor invoices, and event budgets, reporting variances to the Marketing Manager.
Required — If you’re close, still apply.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Health Sciences, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, marketing coordination, or account management.
• Demonstrated ability to prospect, cold-call, and build new customer relationships from scratch.
• Proficiency with CRM and project management software (Monday.com strongly preferred), Microsoft Office Suite and digital marketing campaign tools.
• Comfortable engaging with clinical professionals (physicians, therapists, orthotists, prosthetists) and administrative or procurement contacts.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 20%, including overnight stays for trade shows.
• A warm personality, high emotional intelligence, a great attitude and a willingness to learn.
Nice to Haves
• Experience selling or supporting orthotic devices, prosthetics & orthotics (P&O), rehabilitation equipment, or DME products.
• Familiarity with spinal orthotics, spine anatomy, or musculoskeletal conditions (scoliosis, spinal stenosis, post-surgical recovery, etc.), or a willingness to learn.
• Experience with trade show logistics, including booth coordination and lead capture.
We’re not just looking for skills on a resume. We’re looking for a specific kind of human:
• You’re a confident communicator who can translate clinical product data into clear value for diverse audiences.
• You aren’t afraid to ask questions and can handle constructive feedback.
• You have a hunter’s mindset paired with genuine curiosity about patient outcomes.
• You love structure, but you can adapt quickly when priorities shift and new tasks appear.
• You’re self-motivated in the field and collaborative in the office.
• You’re resilient and persistent, with a long-game mindset toward relationship building.
• You naturally make people feel comfortable — customers notice it, and colleagues appreciate it.
• Organization & Attention to Detail — Manages competing priorities with precision and follows through reliably.
• Tech-Forward Mindset — Embraces marketing platforms; learns new tools quickly.
• Communication — Timely responsiveness across email, phone, social, and in-person with internal teams and external customers alike.
• Team Orientation — Collaborative and proactive.
• Customer Focus — Takes genuine interest in customer satisfaction and professionally resolves issues quickly.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and reflects the Cape Cod/Southeast Massachusetts regional market. The total package includes BASE SALARY RANGE $52,000 – $68,000 / year based on qualifications and experience.
• Outstanding health insurance benefits
• 401(k) retirement plan with company match, including traditional and Roth options
• Paid vacation and sick time
• Company-paid life, disability, and accident insurance
• Training and professional development support
