CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY
Spicer Group is looking to fill a full-time Construction Project Manager position within our Construction Services Group. This position is available in our East Lansing, Bingham Farms, or Byron Center office locations. We are seeking a motivated individual to lead a regional construction team. Candidates must be able to work both independently, with our team of project engineers and staff, and along with a variety of clients including MDOT, local road commissions, municipalities, and local leadership. Our Construction Project Managers are responsible for developing detailed project plans with timelines, milestones, and resource needs. They will also be reviewing construction drawings and documents for code and client compliance, and periodic onsite reviews of our Construction Services Technicians.
This is a leadership position that requires oversight of engineers and technicians, frequent visits to project sites, assisting with business development and strategic planning, and developing and maintaining client relationships. We are excited to add a new staff member to our expanding Construction Services team and give them the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills in many ways.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Employees in this position will work within our Construction Services Group, which provides support to all our professional service groups in the company throughout all our offices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and supervising staff and engineers within Spicer’s Construction Services Group. This also includes providing administrative and technical direction to staff and field engineers
- Responsible for all project management including scope, schedule, and budget
- Assisting with business development for construction engineering work related to State, County, and local government transportation projects
- Assisting in the preparation of proposals, meetings with potential clients, and other business development activities
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
- Interacts with contractors and their representatives while representing Spicer Group and the contract owner
- Performs periodic on-site oversight of Field Technicians
- Provides constructability reviews, monitors projects for construction document compliance, and performs project quality assurance and quality compliance
- Conducts close-out procedures and performs post-construction services and investigations as-needed
- Complies with all applicable safety and environmental requirements
- Ensures all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, etc. are adhered to

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for organized and highly skilled individuals who are ready to be part of a team that works with multiple professional disciplines on a variety of exciting projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Preferred Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain licensure
- Thorough knowledge of construction (technology, equipment, methods), procedures, and standards
- MDOT Office Technician Training, AutoCAD experience, Survey experience, Industry training or certifications, and experience related to road/bridge construction management, is preferred, but not required
- Has a thorough understanding of MDOT construction practices and policies, as well as MDOT standard plans and specifications
