What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Leader position at Spice World Inc?
The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties. It is not all inclusive. Other responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition. Management, as appropriate, may modify this job description.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Account for all employees at the beginning of the shift and Provide employees with clear direction on the day's workload.
- Ensure ALL employees’ time management is monitored and verified daily this includes Ensuring all employees are taking the required lunch and breaks. (This includes Contractor employees as well).
- Ensure production line is ready and equipment is operational prior to beginning of shift. This includes ensuring correct product and packaging and the required paperwork (labels, tags, conversions) is ready at the beginning of the shift.
- Provide the contractor's crew boss (if applicable) with the daily production schedule.
- Comply with safety rules and follow all safety policies, procedures, and work methods.
- Keep track of machine malfunctions, note them on the hour-by-hour sheet, and report malfunction to Maintenance.
- Ensure employees report any work-related injuries immediately.
- Keep the Supervisor/manager informed throughout the day.
- Responsible for food safety; by following and enforcing the GMP’s and food safety procedures.
- Responsible for day-to-day operations monitoring progress, advising management of unforeseen issues, and resolving problems.
- Lead position requires continuous engagement with graders/packers/palletizers to ensure quality standards are being met.
- Ensure the work area is organized and good housekeeping practices are followed throughout the shift.
- Report any disciplinary-related issues to the Supervisor, Manager or Human Resources Manager.
- Report all violations to management and document as necessary.
- Ensure all contractor employee's disciplinary issues are referred to the contractor's representative.
- Assists with employee trainings on the production lines.
- Helps remove obstacles on the floor to ensure the best quality of within the product is being packed.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of quality control standards and methodology.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Experience working in manufacturing plant.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 5 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to work in cold environments as low as (30 F) or warm environments up to (>90 F) or over.
- Must be able to rotate between departments with other Leads when needed.
- Must be willing to work second shift if needed.
- Must be able to work O.T if needed.
- Must be able to work Weekends.
