Senior Design Technician

We’re looking for a highly experienced Senior CAD Technician to lead plan production and support engineering teams across a variety of projects. This position is ideal for someone who can work independently, lead drafting efforts, and ensure high-quality deliverables on schedule.

Typical Duties

The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Each person is expected to participate in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule.

• Works from sketches, notes and other input material to produce computer-generated graphs, charts, overlays and completed drawings. Can complete finished product with limited direction.
• Accuracy, quality, completeness, and adherence to the schedule can be independently maintained.
• Maintains organized work environment and has responsibility to ensure drawings are completed on schedule.
• Develops and populates schedule sheets and details.
• Recommends new methods and procedures for completion of drawings.
• Understands and follows company standard CADD procedures for layering, etc., and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout. Suggests improvements to standard procedures.
• Receives and sets up drawing sheets with minimal direction from Engineers.
• Leads the plan production effort throughout a project but may serve as backup to other teams as needed.
• Ability to perform basic calculations, such as grades.
• Ability to notice, and bring to engineer’s attention, issues related to construction during drawing development, such as utility conflicts.
• Checks own work prior to QA/QC review.
• Participates in assembly of specifications, bid proposals, and other elements of the contract documents.
• Assists with creation of detailed opinion of probable construction cost.

• Associate Degree or Certificate in Computer Aided Design (CAD) preferred (will consider years experience in lieu of degree)
• Minimum 7 years of CAD experience in an engineering environment
• Experience in water and wastewater engineering desired
• Strong proficiency in Civil3D and AutoCAD
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Experience training or mentoring junior staff is a plus
• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
• Ability to work in a team environment on numerous projects
