Position Summary

  • The Consulting Geophysicist is an industry-recognized subject matter expert who brings advanced technical capability and experience to the team. This position is intended to elevate technical excellence across the organization and strengthen the groundwater services line through innovative geophysical applications, high-quality project execution, and strategic guidance. The position is part-time and project or task based only with no guarantee of hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated professional expertise in major surface, airborne, and borehole geophysical methods, including refraction and reflection seismics; electromagnetics; electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and induced polarization; gravity; magnetics; ground-penetrating radar; and radiometric methods.
  • Support the design and execution of geophysical projects, including survey planning, field operations, data processing, QA/QC, and interpretation.
  • Develop clear, technically sound narratives for reports, including preparation of graphics, cross-sections, figures, and plots to effectively communicate geophysical data, results, and uncertainty.
  • Provide professional and technical mentorship to staff, helping to strengthen internal geophysical capabilities and elevate project quality.

Required Qualifications

Years of Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's degree preferred) and/or equivalent experience.
  • 20 years of experience.
  • Professional Geophysicist (PgP, State of California)
  • Electrical resistivity and induced polarization software
  • Seismic refraction, reflection and MASW software
  • Electromagnetic and magnetic software
  • Cross-method & general software (e.g. Surfer, Voxler, Tekplot, GIS, ReflexW)

Work Environment And Physical Requirements

This role requires frequent travel to outdoor work sites and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, rough terrain, and physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 40 lbs., prolonged standing, or walking.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel (up to 10%) for client meetings or site visits.
