Construction Project Manager (Solar Installation) - Duties & Responsibilities


Project Development Assistance

  • Attend pre-bid site walks – take photos and notes regarding site and project requirements for estimating to build proposals
  • Define scope considerations for RFP’s and site visits highlighted by estimating
  • Research and review potential subcontractors
  • Obtain subcontractor quotes to assist in bidding process
  • Define material lists from field crew to assist with bidding process
  • Coordinate meetings with potential EV project opportunities
  • Develop proposals/bids for incoming EV projects

Project Management

  • Manage multiple commercial solar and EV charging projects simultaneously from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement logs, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate project kickoff meetings.
  • Monitor project progress, productivity, quality, and financial performance.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, utilities, and public agencies.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and provide progress updates to clients and leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers and project partners.
  • Resolve project issues in a timely and professional manner.

Preconstruction & Procurement

  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
  • Verify project specific permit and plan review requirements per AHJ.
  • Apply for and obtain all necessary permits in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate material procurement and equipment deliveries.
  • Work closely with estimating and engineering during project handoff.
  • Develop subcontracts and establish subcontractor documentation requirements.
  • Manage subcontractor buyout and scope coordination.
  • Create submittal packages and coordinate approval as needed.
  • Review and submit RFIs, and shop drawings for completeness and accuracy.

Field Coordination

  • Coordinate activities with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and inspectors.
  • Schedule inspections, utility coordination, commissioning, and project milestones.
  • Perform regular site visits to verify quality, safety, and schedule compliance.
  • Assist field teams in resolving technical and logistical challenges.

Financial Management

  • Track project budgets, committed costs, and forecasted expenditures.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices and supplier billings.
  • Prepare and track all change order requests.
  • Manage project change orders from pricing through execution.

Safety & Quality

  • Maintain company safety program through regulation and policy updates and enforcement strategies.
  • Create Site Specific Safety Plans and Fall Protection Work Plans for each project and ensure field crew understanding and compliance.
  • Promote a culture of safety throughout every phase of construction.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific safety plans.
  • Participate in safety meetings and jobsite inspections.
  • Verify that installations meet company quality standards, manufacturer requirements, and applicable electrical and building codes.

Project Closeout

  • Coordinate commissioning activities/documentation and system startup.
  • Design solar arrays and layouts in monitoring software for seamless utility and end-user monitoring.
  • Manage punch list completion.
  • Assemble project closeout documentation including:
  • As-built drawings
  • Warranty documentation
  • Operations & Maintenance manuals
  • Owner training documentation
  • Final turnover packages


Job Offer Details

·      Work week: Monday – Friday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

·      Location: Office / Field / Remote (1 day a week after training period)

·      Rate of pay: $35.00-$45.00 / hour dependent on relevant experience
