Job Summary:
The Emergency Department Tech works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide basic patient care and clinical support. You’ll assist with vital signs, EKGs, specimen collection, documentation, and room preparation, as well as support select procedures and perform trained clinical tasks. Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment are key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with patient care based on individual needs under RN supervision
Obtain vital signs, perform EKGs, collect specimens, and document in the EMR
Set up and assist with procedures such as pelvic exams, laceration repairs, and abscess I&D
Perform trained procedures including splinting, phlebotomy, staple/stitch removal, and ear irrigation
Stock supplies and maintain clean, organized patient care areas
Room and discharge patients to support efficient department flow
Communicate effectively with patients, nurses, and the care team
Knowledge/Experience: 1 Year of experience in emergency department preferred. Knowledge of safety measures is required.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
License/Certification: CNA, EMT, AEMT or Paramedic certification, medical terminology preferred. Current BLS Certification required.
