About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 11 Job Title: Lead DevOps Engineer – Developer Experience Experience: 8–10 Years Location: Islamabad, Pakistan Role Overview We are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer / Lead Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to own and evolve our Developer Experience (DevEx) platform. This role blends deep technical expertise, SRE leadership, and people management, with a strong focus on GenAI and agentic workflows to accelerate developer productivity, platform reliability, and secure software delivery. Key Responsibilities DevEx & Platform Ownership Design and standardise SDLC workflows using platforms like GitHub and Azure DevOps (ADO), along with integrated DevOps tools. Build reusable pipeline templates, workflows, and automation for engineering teams. Lead adoption of InnerSource and platform engineering best practices. SRE & Reliability Leadership Lead SRE practices across platforms, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and reliability metrics. Own on-call strategy, incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and postmortem processes. Drive the observability strategy across DevOps platforms, including logs, metrics, traces, and alerts. Improve platform availability, MTTR, and operational maturity through automation and consistent practices. DevSecOps Enablement Embed robust security practices into CI/CD pipelines with technologies like GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS), Mend, and Fortify. Define and enforce security policies, quality gates, and compliance controls. Partner with Information Security teams on risk management, exceptions, and secure-by-default pipeline designs. GenAI & Agentic Workflows Lead the adoption of GenAI tools within the developer workflow, including platforms like GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, and Cursor Design and implement agentic workflows for pipeline automation, security remediation, release validation, and incident analysis. Establish governance, guardrails, and best practices for AI-assisted development. Leadership & Collaboration Lead, mentor, and grow a DevOps, SRE, and DevEx engineering team. Act as a technical authority and escalation point for platform and reliability issues. Collaborate closely with Application, Security, Architecture, and Product teams. Drive change, release, and incident management processes aligned with enterprise standards. Influence roadmap planning, prioritisation, and technical standards. Required Technical Skills GitHub & DevEx Tooling Experience managing platforms like GitHub Enterprise Cloud, with a preference for admin-level expertise. Advanced experience with GitHub Actions, including reusable workflows, actions, and policy enforcement. GitHub Advanced Security (CodeQL, Dependabot, secret Scan). DevOps & CI/CD Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation tools like GitHub Actions and GitLab CI Experience working with platforms like JFrog Artifactory and SonarQube. Strong understanding of CI/CD workflow design, approval gates, and release automation. Cloud & SRE Strong experience with AWS and cloud-native architecture. Deep expertise in SRE principles, reliability engineering, and automation-first design. Observability Hands-on experience with observability platforms and tooling. Strong understanding of alerting strategies and incident reduction techniques. Automation & Integration Strong scripting skills in Python and Shell. Working knowledge of SQL. Experience with REST APIs, tool integrations, and platform migrations. Good to Have Holding certifications like GitHub Cloud Administrator is a plus. Experience implementing AI governance frameworks and guardrails. Exposure to large-scale enterprise DevEx or platform engineering teams. What’s In It For You?
