What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Analyst I/ Data Auditor position at Sperry Rail and Careers?
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
To process and analyze ultrasonic test data received from Sperry’s Non-Stop test units(s). Generate lists of suspected rail defects within the respective Railway authorities’ timescale and compliance requirements, ensuring the data is transferred to the appropriate database/individuals.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
To begin with, you will be required to travel to our headquarters in Shelton, CT, where you will undergo specific training for a period of 3-4 weeks. The training sessions will be conducted during the day, and it is a great opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with our processes and systems.
During this initial phase, you will be training as a Data Auditor. This foundational training will be crucial as you continue to develop your skills and transition into the full Data Analyst I role.
Once the training is completed, your regular work schedule will be from Tuesday to Saturday, with two shift options: 3 pm to 11 pm or 4 pm to 12 am.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities
- Using specialist software, interpret digital images to analyze ultra sonic data, identifying suspect rail defects to the agreed criteria but applying acquired judgment and knowledge.
- Using appropriate checking mechanisms, review track positioning data files and make corrections using comparison against standard formats.
- Using reporter software classify and prioritize images to the agreed individual railway industry specified criteria.
- Using Twin View, compare previous and current data sets to the agreed time cycle and to required compliance legislation
- Using Global Positioning System co-ordinates and a railway mapping tool, establish to 100% accuracy the actual vehicle route against the predetermined route and produce the track tested report
- On a daily basis carry out all necessary archiving associated with the role.

- Education: High School Diploma/GED.
