What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting & Fund Administration Intern position at Spero CFO?
Spero CFO delivers institutional-grade finance for founders, families, and funds—with more than $1.5 billion in client assets under administration. Our fund administration team serves as the back office for GPs and fund managers across private equity, real estate, venture, and credit, managing capital events, investor reporting, audit support, and K-1 coordination under one accountable team.
As our Accounting & Fund Administration Intern, you'll support the weekly and monthly reporting cycle for our lending funds— pulling source data, running reconciliations, and preparing reports for review. You'll reconcile fund balances and reimbursable activity across source systems and the general ledger, track fund-level positions, interest accruals, and outstanding balances, and help resolve discrepancies before reports go out. This is real ownership of recurring deliverables, not busywork.
Beyond reporting, you'll help keep investor and entity data clean, complete, and current across our systems—organizing documents, contacts, commitments, and positions, and formatting compliance and management-fee data from software exports. You'll assist with periodic regulatory and compliance reporting, assemble documentation and supporting schedules for audits, and maintain organized records and audit trails. You'll also have room to improve how the work gets done: identifying manual, repetitive steps and helping build streamlined solutions levering AI, then documenting those processes so they're repeatable.
The ideal candidate is currently pursuing (or has recently completed) a graduate degree in Accounting or Finance, with strong Excel skills (formulas, pivots, large data sets), sharp attention to detail, and the reliability to manage recurring deadlines with minimal supervision. Excellent written communication and discretion with confidential financial and investor information are essential.
