Account Manager - Landscape Plant Health Care

Brief Description

Position Summary

The Plant Health Account Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all pest control, plant health care, fertilization, and integrated pest management (IPM) programs throughout the company's commercial landscape portfolio. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining the highest standards of landscape health, environmental stewardship, and customer satisfaction.

The Plant Health Account Manager serves as the company's designated qualifier and licensed professional responsible for overseeing pesticide applications, training field personnel, maintaining regulatory records, and implementing best practices in landscape pest management across multiple commercial properties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Licensing

• Serve as the company's licensed Certified Pest Control Operator in accordance with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) regulations.
• Ensure all pesticide applications comply with FDACS, EPA, OSHA, and local regulatory requirements.
• Maintain all required licenses, certifications, permits, and continuing education credits.
• Oversee pesticide storage, transportation, handling, and disposal procedures.
• Maintain accurate application records, reports, chemical inventories, and safety documentation.
• Assist with regulatory inspections and audits.
  
  

Plant Health Care & Pest Management

• Develop and implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs for commercial landscape properties.
• Identify and diagnose insect infestations, plant diseases, turfgrass issues, and environmental stress factors.
• Recommend and implement corrective treatment plans.
• Monitor effectiveness of treatments and adjust programs as necessary.
• Conduct routine inspections of landscape sites to evaluate plant health and pest activity.
• Provide technical expertise regarding turf, ornamentals, palms, trees, shrubs, and native landscape species common to South Florida.
  
  

Operations Management

• Plan, schedule, and supervise fertilizer and pesticide applications.
• Coordinate with branch managers, account managers, and field crews to ensure treatment programs are properly executed.
• Manage chemical, fertilizer, and equipment inventories.
• Assist in developing annual budgets for plant health care operations.
• Review and approve treatment recommendations and application schedules.
  
  

Training & Leadership

• Train and mentor spray technicians and field personnel on proper application techniques, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and pesticide handling training.
• Evaluate employee performance related to pest control and plant health operations.
• Promote a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence.
  
  

Client Relations & Technical Support

• Meet with clients, property managers, and HOA boards to discuss plant health concerns and treatment recommendations.
• Provide technical inspections and written reports as requested.
• Assist business development teams with site assessments, proposals, and plant health care recommendations.
• Support account managers in resolving client concerns related to pest management and landscape health.
  
  

Qualifications

Required

• Current Florida Certified Pest Control Operator (CPO) License in Ornamental & Turf.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial landscape pest management, horticulture, or plant health care.
• Extensive knowledge of turfgrass, ornamental plants, palms, trees, insects, diseases, and weeds common to South Florida.
• Working knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles.
• Valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to supervise and train field personnel.
• Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile technology applications.
  
  

Preferred

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Science, Entomology, or related field.
• Landscape industry experience servicing commercial properties, HOAs, municipalities, or large mixed-use developments.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• FNGLA, ISA, or related industry certifications.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in South Florida weather conditions.
• Ability to walk properties, inspect landscapes, and navigate uneven terrain.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate company vehicles and pest control equipment.
  
  

Work Environment

This position requires frequent travel between commercial properties throughout South Florida and regular interaction with clients, operations teams, and field personnel. The Plant Health Account Manager will work both in the field and in an office setting and must be comfortable managing multiple priorities across a diverse portfolio of properties.
