What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dance Instructor position at Speranza Performing Arts Academy?
Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Dance Instructor to teach at our new performing arts academy in Ventura. We are seeking a teacher experienced in teaching classes in jazz, tap and modern, for both youth and adults.
Classes will be taught Monday-Thursday, from 3:30-6:45 pm. Candidates should be available on one or more of those days.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging dance lesson plans for students ages 4 1/2-7, 8-12 and adults.
- Teach modern dance techniques, particularly those that would be used in musical theater. No ballet, please.
- Lead the youth students in a periodic showcases.
- Manage student behavior and ensure discipline when necessary.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of modern dance styles and techniques.
- Experience in lesson planning and curriculum development.
- Ability to work effectively with students ages 4-12 and adults.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to motivate students.
- Proficiency in classroom management and behavior management techniques.
