The Spencerport School District is currently accepting applications for a Food Service Helper to assist in the kitchen of Bernabi Elementary School. Applications will be reviewed and selected candidates will be contacted for a screening interview.
Hours: 5.5 hours per day; 8:30am - 2:00pm
Salary/Rate of Pay: Starting at $16.58 per hour, based on previous experience
Benefits: NYS Pension, paid leave time

- Applicants must be fingerprinted and cleared for employment for the NYS Education Department before employment begins.
- General kitchen work includes but not limited to preparation of foods, dishing/portioning of foods, set up of serving lines, cashing, serving, and cleanup of serving lines, and kitchen areas including washing pots and pans.
- Participates in the maintenance of acceptable health, safety and sanitary practices as required by various regulatory agencies. Participates in the care and safe operation of the kitchen equipment.
- Demonstrates proficiency in cash handling, including accurate operation of the cash registers and execution of cashier duties
- Sufficient communication skills, manual dexterity and ability to perform food service skills under time constraints without close supervision
- Safely operate, clean, and maintain utensils and equipment used in a school kitchen.
- Follow written recipes and menus as provided.
- Adhere to sanitation requirements in the handling and preparation of food.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
- Physical stamina required to meet job demands include:
- Standing for extended periods on hard surfaces
- Lifting items up to 30 lbs.
- Bending and reaching
