What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Tax Analyst position at Spencer Thomas?
Position Overview:
Spencer Thomas Group (STG) is currently looking to add to our team of
consultants under our Payroll Tax practice .
Responsibilities:
- Support payroll tax activities within ADP Smart Compliance, including error resolution, amendments, and compliance monitoring
- Partner with federal, state, and local agencies to address and resolve payroll tax issues
- Perform payroll accounting functions, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations
- Review and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, and support audit readiness
- Share best practices and provide guidance on payroll tax processes, accounting impacts, and compliance requirements
- Document current payroll processes, workflows, and procedures with clarity and accuracy
- Partner with payroll team members and cross‑functional stakeholders to gather detailed process information
- Translate complex payroll activities into easy‑to‑understand documentation, including step‑by‑step guides, flowcharts, and reference materials
Required Qualification(s):
- Must be familiar with ADP Smart Compliance and deep knowledge of U.S. payroll taxes
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong business acumen
- Must have an understanding of ADP GlobalView payroll platform
- Experience with Visio and PowerPoint a plus
