This position is responsible for processing monthly lease payments and annual lease-related settlements for all Spencer’s and Spirit leased locations, ensuring payments are accurate and comply with negotiated lease terms. The role also maintains the company’s third-party lease administration software and supports the integrity of related lease data.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Lease Payments and Invoice Processing
- Prepare and process monthly rent batches using the lease administration system, ensuring all payments comply with lease terms.
- Audit and process annual lease year-end settlements, miscellaneous landlord invoices, and other lease-related increases to ensure lease compliance.
- Prepare and process percentage rent filings and payments required under lease agreements; maintain breakpoint and percentage rent data in the lease administration system.
- Manage payments and reconcile adjustments related to new leases and lease amendments.
- Ensure uploaded sales data is accurate and complete; process monthly electronic sales reports for landlords.
- Reconcile and process Spirit daily rent batches.
- Ensure proper account coding for Spirit refund checks, including security deposits, cancelled deals, and other miscellaneous receipts.
- Prepare monthly accruals and reclass journal entries. Manage all lease accounting balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Review monthly variances and collaborate with Real Estate and FP&A teams to resolve variance and lease-related questions.
- Serve as the primary contact for landlords regarding finance-related lease questions.
- Perform other lease accounting-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant retail lease accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with multi-site lease accounting software packages.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word, as well as integrated General Ledger and Accounts Payable applications; PeopleSoft experience preferred.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Able to meet tight deadlines during the monthly close process.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.
- Willingness to work additional hours as needed to support lease responsibilities, particularly during Spirit season.
