Senior Substation Engineer
Location: St. Louis, MO

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement protection and control systems for substation and transmission line equipment
- Develop protection schemes for various substation components, including bus, line, capacitor, and transformer
- Lead a team of engineers and designers
- Manage project scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules
- Create and interpret P&C designs for utilities up to 500kV
- Conduct studies and generate reports on coordination, voltage drop, fault current, and installation
- Oversee junior staff and mentor designers/drafters
- Ensure designs adhere to client standards and specifications
- Collaborate with other disciplines, contractors, consultants, and clients
- Provide on-site support and modify designs during construction
- Manage project budgets and schedules
- Prepare engineering and construction documents for substation projects
- Design auxiliary AC and DC power systems
- Develop technical specifications for major substation equipment
- Support system integration of protection, control, and monitoring systems
- Provide engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning support
- Perform field mark-ups and basic calculations
- Travel up to 25% as required
Basic Qualifications:
- 4 years of experience in utility substation P&C design (15kV to 500kV)
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of substation P&C design experience
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Bluebeam
- Proficiency with SEL or GE relays
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and communications interfaces
- Experience with relay settings and system protection
- Experience with substation lightning stroke shielding and grounding plans
- Familiarity with software such as ETAP, ASPEN, acSELerator, SKM, WinIGS, CYME, CAPE, and/or GE URsetup
- Ability to lead large substation design projects
