Student Worker - 21st Century Program (SCPS Students Only)

JOB GOALS

         To create a positive environment that aligns with the vision for Spencer County Schools. Provides opportunities for student leadership development and professional networking with staff & community.

        Perform general light utility work, custodial services, food services or clerical areas as assigned.

        Will be an ambassador for Spencer County Public Schools and commit to offering excellent customer service to students, parents, and staff.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 

• Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.
• Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance. 
• Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
• Adhere to the appropriate code of ethics.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
• Perform duties aligned to specific student leader roles.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate and collaborate with peers, staff and community members.

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY: 

• Office practices, procedures and equipment, basic computer skills.
• Telephone techniques and etiquette. 
• Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. 
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. 
• Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. 
• Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.
• Proper methods, materials, supplies, tools and equipment used in daily work.
• Proper lifting techniques.
• Work independently with little direction.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Work performed while standing, sitting and/or walkings.
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
• Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
• Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
• Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull weights, up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION:

        Student enrolled in Spencer County High School or Hillview Academy.
