Summary
As a cashier at Spence Hardware, you are the face of our company and ensure every customer walking through our doors is greeted, feels welcome, and receives immediate help. We are known as the hometown hardware store and more and are looking for a dedicated, hard-working, and team oriented person to add to our team! Students are welcome to apply, but this position requires availability between 9am and 7:30pm. Those with knowledge of the products we carry, such as hardware, plumbing, electrical, paint, lawn and garden, feed, animal health will stand out in the selection process.
Responsibilities
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
- Provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance to customers regarding products and services.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area to enhance the shopping experience.
- Handle cash, credit, and check transactions with precision and care.
- Assist with inventory management by restocking shelves and organizing merchandise as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a cashier or in retail sales strongly recommended.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly demeanor.
- Proficient in using POS systems and handling cash transactions accurately.
- Basic understanding of retail math for managing transactions effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Good phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone is a plus.
- Ability to lift 50lbs
