Title: Manager, Foundation Relations and Grants
Reports to: Senior Director, Development & Advancement

POSITION SUMMARY
Spence-Chapin is seeking an experienced Foundation Relations and Grants Manager who will be responsible for owning a fast-moving portfolio of grants, with tasks ranging from record-keeping, template preparation, writing, funder research, and project management.  Additionally, the manager will support the day-to-day operations related to foundation relations and grants and provide as-needed assistance to the Senior Director, as well as the Development team.  The successful candidate understands tight deadlines and is capable of working across a range of internal and external partners and constituents.  This is an in-person position with an annual salary range of $70,000-$80,000 commensurate with experience.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS & SKILLS
Grants Management
  • Lead a portfolio of grants, which includes, but is not limited to:
    • Manage all stages of the grant lifecycle, including identifying prospects; preparing outreach; securing and preparing for meetings
    • Draft and write letters of inquiry and proposals
    • Manage the grant upon award including all attendant operational work
    • Research and review existing and prospective funders.  Identify their priorities and previous grantmaking, and making connections to Spence-Chapin’s program priorities, while contributing ideas for potential funding pitches
    • Partner with the finance department and relevant program teams to develop proposal budgets and ensure timely, complete financial reporting to donors
    • Track payments of grants and awards, including execution of payment requests
  • Support the Senior Director in a range of tasks, including portfolio support, maintaining integrity of grants data in Raiser’s Edge, database and measuring progress, maintaining calendars, and developing grants management tools informed by the data
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Senior Director, including as-needed portfolio and Development department support
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience)
  • Minimum of 3 years of foundations and grants experience
TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Proficiency with Raiser's Edge or a comparable CRM required
  • Experience with grant writing and foundation management
  • Experience with pulling reports and analyzing data to improve strategies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with donor foundation research software such as DonorSearch, Foundation Center, or Wealth Engine
  • Familiarity with tools such as iWave, RelSci, and Foundation Directory Online
