About us
Spektrix is a growing collection of creative problem solvers focused around the arts and technology whose mission is to help arts organizations be more successful. We’re doing this through a combination of cloud-based software and consultative customer support that empowers arts organizations to grow revenue, increase efficiency, and build stronger relationships with audiences. We are always looking for new ways to approach problems, share knowledge, and better serve our customers. You’d be joining a team of over 228, based across our New York, London and Manchester offices and working with over 600 arts organizations in North America and the UK.

The role

This is a senior, hands-on technical role within the marketing and communications team that is accountable for the continuous development and improvement of our corporate website, Spektrix.com
. You will be proficient in organizing complex projects involving immediate colleagues and business stakeholders, whilst also delivering a program of changes and improvements to the site.  The scope of this role extends to our corporate website(s), but does not encompass the product we provide which is referred to as the ‘Spektrix System’.

Our technical environment

Spektrix.com
is built within HubSpot, our core CMS, marketing, and CRM platform using the ‘professional’ CMS edition.

HubSpot’s CMS is a drag and drop editor that allows marketers to work in a ‘no code’ environment. That environment is managed using a combination of custom-built modules making up the elements of a page, and off-the-shelf website themes that provide core page layouts and navigation options. The underlying code behind the CMS is  ‘HubL’ markup language, based on Jinja, CSS, Javascript and serverless functions.  Whilst the CMS is mostly ‘drag and drop’, it is sometimes necessary to edit code in the languages described above to achieve a desired result.

Core site pages’ content varies according to region and we vary the content served based on the IP-based geolocation and whether or not we recognise the visitor as a prospective customer.

The Spektrix partner directory is also built within HubSpot and uses third party tools to enable our partners to create and manage their own directory listings. In addition to spektrix.com, our online estate also includes our user support portal (support.spektrix.com) and integration portal (integrate.spektrix.com).

Our site makes extensive use of tracking and analytics technologies for the purposes of understanding conversions and site behavior. Tools you’ll have access to include SEMrush, Hotjar, HubSpot analytics and the usual suite of Google-provided analytics products.

Key Responsibilities

Accountable for:
  • Prototyping and designing new website pages, owning the process for developing user experience (UX) and user interfaces (UI). You provide page wireframes, collect feedback and go on to produce the finished product. You’ll work with our in-house Senior Brand Designer to develop assets for the web, and to ensure they meet our high standards for design.  You project manage this process so that pages are delivered on time, on budget and perform to the goals set out in a given brief.
  • Ensuring that the technical SEO, site structure, and navigation of Spektrix.com optimally contributes to the Spektrix Vision (e.g. driving inbound leads, promoting wider solution adoption from existing clients) You’ll do this by working with colleagues in content and marketing operations, ensuring the site is optimized for our target audiences and that we have a clear understanding of what drives conversion on our site and why.
  • Ensuring that all contributors to the website are empowered to add content consistently and to a high-standard, without website interruption. This means you’ll ensure that other departments are able to publish to the site as appropriate, following procedures and standards you have set.
  • Ensuring that the site is built using appropriate modules and themes, customizing the code on the site as necessary to achieve a desired result. You make sure the site is built using the appropriate building blocks and make code customizations as necessary.
  • Ensuring our websites are WCAG 2 compliant , meeting the highest standards of accessibility wherever possible.
  • Maintaining and managing third party site integrations. You’ll keep integrations up to date and evaluate their information security risks with our internal information security function from time to time.
  • Ensuring our website remains highly available, bug/broken-link free, highly performant and responsive. Using our website monitoring tools, feedback from colleagues and users, plus your own proactive approach to validating site performance, you’ll manage bugs, performance issues and potential site improvements, continuously improving the site.

Responsible for:
  • Developing page briefs. Working with content and operations leads, you’ll ensure that each new page on the site has a clearly defined brief covering its objective and purpose. You’ll work to ensure existing pages have the same briefs in place and use those to evaluate whether or not existing content meets the bar we set for the site.
  • The day to day management of external contractors. While the site is managed and built in house, we occasionally work with third parties on specific projects. You’ll work with internal colleagues to set the brief, budget and timescale for these projects and then work directly with third parties to ensure those projects are delivered as expected.
  • Contributing to the overall success of the website and marketing function. For example, by suggesting improvements to optimize content and brand visuals for web; monitoring gaps and opportunities for site content based on page performance; identifying opportunities to connect subdomains to better support all Spektrix site visitors.
  • Contributing to and advising upon the development of our online estate. You’ll contribute ideas and participate in discussion about the performance and ongoing development of our integration and user support portals.
  • Site security and compliance: You’ll work to ensure website security best practices are maintained. You ensure that when we collect data about website users, we do so in a responsible way that is compliant with data protection laws in the places we operate (notably, GDPR, CCPA and PIPEDA).
