Role Description
The Print Production Lead - Night Shift will report directly to the Director of Operations and is responsible for managing all aspects of wide-format print production during the evening shift. This role requires a proactive leader with at least 3 years of supervisory experience who excels at working collaboratively with a team. The Print Production Lead will ensure efficient operation of printing and finishing equipment, maintain high-quality standards, and oversee workflow to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the print production team during assigned shifts, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Oversee daily production activities involving wide-format printing equipment, including hybrid printers, flatbeds, dye sublimation printers, laminators, and cutters.
- Operate and maintain equipment efficiently, ensuring timely completion of print jobs with consistent quality.
- Utilize forklift skills for safe and effective handling of materials and large-format prints.
- Review and interpret job tickets and artwork to verify specifications and production requirements.
- Conduct quality control checks throughout the production process to guarantee accuracy and color fidelity.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance or repairs as necessary.
- Manage inventory levels of print media, inks, and supplies; communicate needs to management proactively.
- Train, mentor, and support production staff, promoting adherence to safety protocols and operational best practices.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Operations, sales, and design teams to optimize workflow and meet client deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment at all times.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Director of Operations on production status, challenges, and team performance.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying and solving production challenges before they impact delivery.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or team lead experience in a print production environment. (Required)
- Proven expertise with wide-format printing technologies: hybrid printers, flatbeds, dye sublimation, laminators, and cutters. (Required)
- Certified or experienced forklift operator with a strong commitment to safety. (Required)
- Experience with RIP software (e.g., Onyx, PrintFactory, Caldera, Colorgate, etc). (Required)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple jobs in a fast-paced setting.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality control and accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, technical specifications, and artwork files.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proactive problem solver with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications in print production are a plus.
