The Opportunity
We are hiring a Director of Compliance & Corporate Affairs to take ownership of regulatory execution, compliance operations, and corporate governance at Speed1.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role for someone who wants to work directly with the CEO, own relationships with state regulators, build and scale the compliance foundation of a global fintech, and grow into a future Head of Compliance / Chief Compliance Officer. This is initially an individual-contributor-plus role with the opportunity to build and lead a team as the company scales.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Licensing
- Own and manage the Money Transmitter License (MTL) lifecycle across U.S. states
- Prepare and submit new applications, renewals, and amendments via NMLS
- Act as primary liaison with state regulators and examiners
- Manage responses to exams and information requests from state regulators, including remediation tracking where required
- Support MSB registration and FinCEN-related obligations, and coordinate with federal regulatory expectations as applicable
Compliance Operations
- Oversee day-to-day compliance operations including AML/BSA coordination, reporting, and audits (with a view to evolving into the BSA Officer / CCO function over time, as appropriate)
- Oversee KYC/KYB, sanctions (OFAC) screening, and ongoing monitoring processes in partnership with operations and product teams
- Maintain and update compliance policies aligned with product evolution
- Support due diligence requests from sponsor banks, payment partners, and financial institutions
Corporate & Legal Affairs
- Maintain corporate governance, subsidiaries, filings, and records
- Perform first-pass review of commercial agreements from a compliance perspective
- Coordinate and manage outside legal counsel (banking, regulatory, corporate)
- Support preparation of materials for board and board-committee meetings on compliance and regulatory matters
Banking, Partners & Global Expansion
- Support onboarding and diligence with U.S. and international banking partners
- Assist with compliance workstreams related to international expansion
- Help shape Speed1's long-term regulatory and compliance roadmap
CEO & Investor Support
- Act as a trusted internal advisor to the CEO on compliance and regulatory risk
- Support investor reporting and communications related to licensing and compliance
Who We're Looking For
- 4–8 years of experience in fintech or payments compliance, banking regulation, regulatory consulting, or financial services law
- Direct experience working with state regulators and/or NMLS
- Strong knowledge of AML/BSA frameworks and bank diligence processes
- Experience with digital asset / virtual currency money transmission, payment processors, or similar high-velocity transaction environments is a strong plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and execution-oriented
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating in a fast-moving environment
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (required)

Pay: $120, $180,000.00 per year
