Job Summary
The State Safety Manager will oversee the health and safety of all employees for their respective state, including the hub and all branch locations.
Hours and Wages
- Exempt salary position
- Starting wage: $83,000-$109,000 based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this role
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily safety operations of the state and ensure all laws, regulations, and employment practices are being followed properly
- Maintain a driver inventory database
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and stakeholders
- Inspect each facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
- Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, schedule routine inspections
- Prepare and present various safety related reports to upper management
- Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant projects
- Monitor compliance with safety procedures
- Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings
- Ensure that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed
- Maintain records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required
- Facilitate monthly leadership meetings
- Travel is required
- Perform other required duties as assigned

Education and Experience
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Health and Safety, or related field preferred
- 5 years of experience in health and safety preferred
- Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license or successfully complete company paid CDL training program within 90 days of employment
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 50-100 pounds at times
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
- Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
