Job SummaryThe Route Driver is responsible for representing the company while making deliveries and picking up freight.Hours and WagesMonday- Friday, 7:30AM- completion of route10-15 hours of overtime may be expected each weekVoluntary OT on weekends (as needed)Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per weekStarting wage: $20.00- $24.00 per hour, based on experienceDuties and ResponsibilitiesDeliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippersInspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicleLoad the truck in an organized manner to effectively use space and prevent damage to packagesCollect payments for certain packages deliveredVerify the content of pickups on shipping papersNotify management of any problems or discrepanciesMaintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehiclePerform other related duties as assignedSkills and AbilitiesAbility to operate a manual transmission, or have the willingness to learnPossess good customer service and can work independentlyEducation and ExperienceAt least 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredHold a valid Driver's License with a good driving record which meets company standardsPhysical RequirementsAbility to pass a DOT physical examAbility to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, while moving freight on and off company vehicleAbility to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 poundsAbility to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animalsBenefitsHealth Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) Plan, Quarterly Bonuses, and more.EEO and Affirmative Action StatementSpee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
